It was actually 47.6 mpg. That’s still the highest mpg I think I’ve ever gotten in any vehicle. Not only that, it was a 294-mile trip where I ended up having to back track and take US-285 from the San Luis Valley back to the Denver Metro area, which goes through a few mountain passes. I’m impressed that it did so well.

Your gas mileage is like 3x what I get

Gas mileage is nice, but this is ridiculous.

Are you losing mass bro? Too much cardio?

Do you really want to kill me Bob?

Can confirm that I have not lost any mass whatsoever.

Most of the time I average around 38 mpg, this was ridiculous. On the trip down yesterday, using I-25 south to Walsenburg and then over US-160 to Alamosa I only got 43, which was then the highest mpg I’d ever gotten.

What speeds were you averaging? The difference between 60 and 70 in my E34 is about 5-6 mpg, which is quite a bit when you’re only getting 18 to start with.

Oh I love Walsenburg. Theres this dinky car dealer there that always has cool stuff. I average about 16, if Im not driving like a complete asshole.

What on earth is that awesome gauge cluster from? Fiat?

Fiat 500 Sport. I think they changed it to a bizarre LCD screen now, I don’t like the new one.

Probably about 60-65 most of the way. The thing is, if you go north on 285 from SLV to Denver, you aren’t climbing uphill as steeply as you do when you’re going south. I bet if I take 285 south from Denver next time I’ll get a bit less mpg.

I’m hoping my wife and I get a TDI Sportwagen when she gets back from her deployment - im sick of crappy mileage. Our 530 still pulls 30-33mpg highway, but we took our Montero from South Dakota to Louisville to Dayton and back and averaged 14mpg the whole way. Thats a lot of stopping for gas and expensive.

On the other hand she wants a Sedona which is great, but the wagon is 6 speed manual, $10k cheaper, and double the MPGs...

“Baahb” Bob or “Bob” Bob?

Upper Midwesterners usually go for “Baahb”.

The Brits go for the “Bob” type of Bob or Bohb.

It’s a fiat, it’s probably just a glitch in the electric system, your really getting 5.01 mpg

No, it would be more like “It was getting 50 mpg until the engine caught fire!”

Dude I used to get 40+ regularly between San Diego and Sacramento in my e39 528i. Throw a K&N on that bitch, and it’ll improve your mpg by at least 1 or 2.

Just for fun, put it on jackstands, let it idle in top gear, and see what happens.

My best so far (46 mpg). If I didn't deal with red lights or out of no where traffic that just stopped I think I could have hit 50 mpg. Just set the cruise control at 65 and keep right

I’d love to go on a longer trip on flat roads, I bet mine would reach 50. It averaged 45 on this 500-mile jaunt, but that was with a lot of hills.

Yeah that’s not bad at all. My mpg is actually fairly poor because the engine is so small it likes to be revved which wrecks economy.

Kinja'd!!! fhrblig > Twingo Tamer - About to descend into project car hell.

I feel like mine is the right balance. The peak torque is at 4k, so you have just enough power to get around without having to always go to the 6.5k peak hp.

Peak torque in mine is at 2500 but peak power is much higher in the rev range. It’s a fairly quick revving engine too so its hard to resist holding it in the lower gears.
